Privacy policy

The modernrobotics.ru site does not collect readers' personal data: no names, no email addresses, no IP addresses, no browser identifiers. There is no registration and there are no cookies. Below, in plain words: what the site does count, what is stored in your browser and where the data lives. At the end is the same in brief, in the terms of Russian Federal Law No. 152-FZ. The Russian version of this policy is the authoritative one; this is a translation.

Who runs the site

The site is run by Oleg Shipitko, the author of the course. It is a personal non-commercial project.

You can report errors and inaccuracies in GitHub issues.

Cookies and third-party counters

The site sets no cookies. The pages have no Yandex Metrica, no Google Analytics, no ads, no social media pixels and no embedded widgets from other services. Fonts, formulas and all the labs are loaded from the site itself and run in your browser.

What is stored in your browser

A few marks are kept in your browser's local storage (localStorage). They are not sent to the server:

You can reset progress with the “Reset progress” button in the course program on the home page. All marks are removed together with the site data for modernrobotics.ru in your browser settings.

Anonymous statistics

To understand which lessons and tasks need improving, a page sends short events to the course server:

The server adds one to the “day, page, event” counter and stores only these totals. Events are not linked to each other or to a person or a browser: there are no identifiers, and the server does not read IP addresses. If Do Not Track is enabled in your browser, no events are sent.

Feedback at the end of a lesson

The “Was the lesson clear?” rating is added to the lesson's totals. Optional text of up to 1,000 characters is stored together with the day, the lesson and the rating, without a name or contact details. Email addresses and phone numbers are removed from the text in the browser, before it is sent, and again on the server. That is why feedback cannot be answered: if you need a reply, open an issue on GitHub.

The “Say thanks” button

A click adds one to the shared counter. The browser keeps a mark so that one thanks is not counted twice.

Where the data is stored

The site pages, statistics totals, feedback texts and the “thanks” counter are stored in Yandex Cloud in Russia. Request logs with IP addresses are not kept. Only the author of the course sees the feedback texts and totals. The data is not shared with third parties and is not used for advertising.

Links to other sites

The lessons link to papers, code and videos on other sites: arXiv, GitHub, YouTube and others. Their own rules apply there. The video by the ALOHA authors in lesson 1.7 is loaded from their site only after you click the cover image.
